Compass Group’s Deanne Brandstetter, MBA, RDN, CDN, FAND, was invited to serve on the International WELL Building Institute Task Force on COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Infections: Prevention and Preparedness, Resilience and Recovery. This special initiative taps into the global expertise of key leaders to focus on the critical role buildings, businesses and communities play in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak, and disease prevention more broadly.
Deanne will serve as a key contributor to this group and keep the Compass community informed as developments unfold.
Launching in April, the task force will deploy a multi-faceted strategy that channels the collective insight of the global WELL community to inform new guidelines for prevention and preparedness resilience and recovery, while also enhancing the WELL Building Standard itself.
The task force is chaired by renowned experts such as:
- Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, M.D., MBA, former president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and distinguished professor of population health and health equity at the University of Pennsylvania.
- Jonathan Fielding, M.D., MPH, MA, MBA, distinguished professor at UCLA in the Fielding School of Public Health and the Geffen School of Medicine, and former director and health officer of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
- Richard Carmona, M.D., MPH, FACS, who was 17th Surgeon General of the United States and is currently distinguished professor at the University of Arizona.
- Joseph Allen, DSc, MPH, assistant professor of exposure and assessment science and director of the Healthy Buildings program at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
The International WELL Building Institute is leading the global movement to transform our buildings, communities and organizations in ways that help people thrive. WELL is focused exclusively on the ways that buildings and communities – and everything in them – can improve our comfort, drive better choices and generally enhance, not compromise, our health and wellness.
IWBI mobilizes the wellness community through management of the WELL AP credential, the pursuit of applicable research, the development of educational resources, and advocacy for policies that promote health and wellness everywhere. IWBI is a participant of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate citizenship initiative, and helps companies advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the use of WELL.
